Fun Friday
My second activity for today, I made a butterfly origami. One of my older sisters taught me how to make it and I thought it was very hard but it was actually very easy. This is what it looks like!
What do you all think about it?

Today for my reading, I read a book called BMX Biking and I enjoyed it a lot. It talks about BMX racing, it talks about how its a fun sport for children, teenagers and adults. I learnt that it is also similar to motocross racing but instead BMX racers use foot-powered bicycles instead of motorcycles.
Thursday’s Maths: Equations
I am learning to use addition and subtraction to work out fractions of a set.
I have a 25cm chocolate log cake left and i have to share it with 5 of my friends so i have to think of a way to solve it so if i have a 25 cm log and we divide it by 5 we would give each person 1 cm of log cake until there is nothing left.
If we count in 5s, we start off from 5 x 1 and continue until we count up to 25.
So 5 x 1 = 5, 5 x 2 = 10, 5 x 3 = 15, 5 x 4 = 20, 5 x 5 = 25 which means each of my friends get 5 cm each.
25cm divided by 5 = 5.
For today, I am learning to use addition and subtraction to work out fractions of a set.
I have to solve a question that has been given:
Two dogs, Hazel and Harry fought over 9 cm of dog roll. Harry got ⅓ of the dog roll and Hazel got ⅔ of the dog roll.
How much of the roll did Harry get?
Harry got 3 cm of the dog roll because 1 x 3 = 3 which means a ⅓ of 9 cm is 3.
How much of the roll did Hazel get?
Hazel gets 6 cm of the dog roll because calculating 2 x 3 = 6 which means ⅔ of 9 is 6.
The man who like grumbling
The story is about the farmer who enjoyed grumbling and goats who annoyed him by chasing his cats and jumping all over his garden. However, the farmer didn't mind the goats playing on his garden and chasing the cats. One day the goats had to move to a better place, so they can have more space. The old man Mr Ratchett didn't want them to move away because he wouldn't be able to grumble. In the end the goats and moving truck came back, and both Mr Ratchett and the goats were happy to be with each other again.
We are learning to use additions and subtractions to work out fractions of a set. For today’s work, I am working on the question: Three people in the class got one third of a 15cm chocolate log cake and I had to work out how much did each person get?
By solving this, I divided 15cm between 3 people and by doing that I gave them each a piece one by one which equals 5 for each person.
Person 1: | Person 2: | Person 3: |
Make a list of all the nouns and verbs from the video. Then add a list of adjectives to describe what’s happening in the video. |
Nouns | Adjectives | Verbs |
men Fish Ocean Fishing rods Hat Clothes Boat | Happy men Funny men Old fishermen Black jacket White shirt Disgusting | They’re fishing They’re laughing They’re sitting in a boat The man puts his teeth in the fish mouth |
There was this funny time, my buddy and I were on a boat and it was in the middle of the ocean. It was quiet and it was only the both of us fishing. My buddy sat in front of me, he sneezed and his teeth fell out onto the edge of the boat which fell in when the boat had moved forward. He was upset, he had no teeth anymore but I found it all very funny.
We now sat back to back, still fishing. He was very silent and I was still laughing because of that moment until I caught a fish and because of my good catch, I was happy. I wanted to find a way to make my friend happy, and it was a disgusting thing to do but I pulled my teeth out and put it inside the fish’s mouth and showed it to him, it was very weird.
He looked at it, pulled the teeth out and put it into his mouth as I kept laughing until he pulled it out because it didn’t fit his teeth and threw it into the water.
Equations - Hungry Birds
Today for my Math Equations Home Learning work, I am learning to use addition and subtraction to work out fractions of a set. I have watched a video where I am shown how to work out the equations given.
In the video there are 22 blocks so I gave 10 each to 2 people and there are 2 left so I gave 1 each to them 2 people again and now they have 11 blocks each. So they each got 10 blocks and then 1 more block each. So ½ of 22 is 11.
Now there are 24 blocks so I have to share the blocks between 4 people so I have to give 5 each to every person which now leaves 4 blocks so they all get 1 extra block so now they have 6 blocks each. So ¼ of 24 is 6.
On my own, I had to work out the equation of Two birds, Billy and Bonnie pulled a large worm out of the ground. They measure it to be 10 cubes long and if each bird gets ½ of the worm, how much will they get? ½ of 10 cubes equals 5 so they will get 5 cubes of the worm.
Fun Friday
Today is Fun Friday and for today's work we had to fill in a presentation with different activities and put together interesting facts of the 7 unknown myths and legends that have been listed on one of the slides.
First I had to complete a Kahoot Quiz to find out my final score to share on my blog.
Below is an image of my final score.
My description of Geoff
(Heinz Beanz)
Geoff is a grown man who was once very adorable when he was a child. He has ginger hair and eyebrows, dark brown eyes and is very short. He looked very happy when he was able to work for Heinz Beans, a company which makes beans for every Aussie person. Geoff loved beans very much, he wanted to invent a perfect sized can of beans for everyone and after many tries of creating his product, he still worked very hard in creating it.
Geoff really liked a girl who worked at the Department of Spaghetti, he continued to work hard on his invention and wanted to give her a can of beans where she gave him a kiss. He was very happy and had become happier when they got married and had children where they begin a new life together.
He looked like he felt very good and happy to be with someone he loves. He would still keep working hard for his family and would care for his wife when she was pregnant. He started to look older but he still kept working to care for his family and to invent products that will be perfect for everyone.
My Description of Giraffes
We are learning to add detail to our writing
The Giraffes in the video are very tall with a long neck and long legs. They are white and have brown spots all over their bodies that come in different shapes. They have two ears and hair-covered horns. They also have purple tongues and look very happy. I can hear their footsteps on the tiled floor when they walk through the hallway. They are brown hair which goes from the top of their head down their neck in a line.
Some giraffes look very cute and some look very scary because of how their face looks when they walk. Their faces, neck and legs are very skinny but the rest of their bodies are very big. In the video they enjoy diving into the pool, I hear a splash of water when they dive into it.
When they run, they swing with the giraffe hanging from the roof and they curl into a ball before they dive into the pool and again they go to dive into the pool again with another giraffe hanging from the ceiling in a higher part of the roof.
The giraffes look very good at diving into the pool, they can do flips and other tricks. They look really cool and are having so much fun too. They look very happy when they are together.
Mathematics - Equations
I am learning how to find a fraction of a set and by doing this we were given an equation,
Faiva owned a farm with 3 paddocks. He had 15 cows to spread evenly on his farm and I had to answer the question, how many cows were in each paddock?
Below is a drawing of how I solved the equation:
To evenly spread the cows into each paddock, I split them into three groups with equal numbers.
Today I had to talk about creating a positive digital footprint. This is part of my cyber-smart work where I had to finish a presentation with questions that I had to fill in and a drawing I also had to complete.
First, I had to watch a video that talks about what kind of digital footprint do you want to leave and then explain in my own words the definition of a digital footprint.
Wednesday Mathematics - Equations
For today’s mathematics, we are learning to find a fraction of a set. By doing this I have to work out how many cows go into each paddock.
There were 8 cows and 4 paddocks. The question was how many cows go into each paddock?
I worked this out by using 8 little images of the cows and putting them into 4 groups/paddocks. In each group/paddock there were 2 images of the cows so that was how I got my answer, there will be 2 cows in each paddock.
Today for my reading I had to read a book called The Very Wide Load. This story is by Debbie Croft. I read the book out loud to my sisters and then to myself. After reading the book, I had to complete the questions at the end of the story to talk about what had happened in the story.
The questions are below:
Where had Mum been for the past few days?
At the city
Why did Dad groan when he looked at the road ahead?
Because there a very wide load (truck)
Why was the truck taking up the whole road?
Because it was turning.
Why did Eva want Dad to overtake the very wide load?
Because they were running late to pick up mum.
Why would it have been dangerous to try to overtake the very wide load?
Because it was a very wide load.
Why didn’t Mum receive the first message Eva sent?
Because the first message wouldn’t send.
Why did Dad say to try sending the message again when they were closer to town?
So the mum doesn’t need to worry.
Why did Eva think they had no chance of getting to the station on time?
Because they might be late.
Why do police and pilot vehicles need to travel the wide loads on the highway?
To keep it safe for everyone else.
The story was so good and cool that I liked it a lot. I was able to explain and answer the questions about the book.
Same And Different
Yesterday I asked my mum questions for my Same And Different. Where I had to talk about what's different about the both of us and what's the same. Below we have put together some things that are the same and that are different between the both of us.
We came up with a lot of answers for all the questions.
Level 3 Lockdown
Last week Wednesday Auckland went into level 3 lockdown, and the rest of New Zealand are in level 2 lockdown. Because of the lockdown we had to stay home to stop the spread of the virus.
When lockdown started I stayed home, watched movies and played with my nerf guns and toys. I felt very bored and missed my friends so much. We had to stay in lockdown for 3 days but then it moved to 12 days. We couldn't do very much, we couldn't go out and hang out with other people outside our bubble.
During the weekend I was just annoying my sisters because I was bored and don't have anyone to play with. On Saturday night me and my sisters ate dinner and watched a movie called Annie, and that’s what we do most of weekend.
Yesterday was my first day of doing online learning in this lockdown. I feel ok because I finally got to see my classmates and teacher and do some work. My sisters made brownies and it tasted very good. And today the day has started.
This lockdown had some good times but also had times where i didnt like it, because I miss my friends and I miss going to school and playing on the playground. But i like it because i can spend time with my sisters and my mum and dad when they come home from work.
My Mathematics for Today
My maths for today is to watch a video for my group that talks about Equations. After watching the video I have to answer the questions under the video.
There were 10 red lollies.
Marcus gave one half to Lance and kept the other half for himself. How many do they get each?
10 lollies
There were 12 pencils for 3 people. Dalilah gave one third of them to each of her friends, how
many pencils do they get each?
4 pencils

WALT: Find the fractions of a set
In the video I have to find the fractions of a set where it tells you to half 20 tennis balls. I did this by splitting the 20 tennis balls into two groups of ten.
In the second part I had to split 12 tennis balls into three groups. I did this by splitting 12 tennis balls into 3 groups of 4
In the last part i had to split 50 tennis balls into 5 groups.i did this by splitting 50 tennis balls into 5 groups of 10.
